Arauz Leads Indians to Victory in Panama City

Chipola College Indians Varsity ran off with the lead late in the game in a 12-6 victory over Gulf Coast State on Friday. The game was tied at five with Chipola College Indians Varsity batting in the top of the sixth when Alex Arauz singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Arauz collected four hits in five at bats to help lead Chipola College Indians Varsity to victory.Arauz doubled in the fifth, singled in the sixth, singled in the eighth, and homered in the ninth.

In the first inning, Chipola College Indians Varsity got their offense started. Cameron Graysingled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the fifth inning, Chipola College Indians Varsity tied things up at five. Connor Kehldrove in two when he doubled.

Chipola College Indians Varsity took the lead for good with one run in the sixth inning.

Chipola College Indians Varsity put up five runs in the ninth inning. Joshua Rivera and Arauzeach had RBIs in the frame.

Gulf Coast State scored three runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Gulf Coast State was led by Wisely and Kelley, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Robert Bennett was the winning pitcher for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out six. Andrew Baker and Michael Cullen entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Knight started the game for Gulf Coast State. He allowed seven hits and five runs over four innings, striking out three. GuzekDean, and Lozafo each contributed in relief for Gulf Coast State.

Gray started the game for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He allowed seven hits and five runs over three and a third innings

Chipola College Indians Varsity smacked three home runs on the day. Jordan Anderson had a long ball in the seventh inning. Arauz went yard in the ninth inning. Rivera went for the long ball in the ninth inning.

Chipola College Indians Varsity collected 20 hits. ArauzCorey RosierIvan JohnsonRiveraKehlGray, and Anderson each collected multiple hits for Chipola College Indians Varsity.Arauz led Chipola College Indians Varsity with four hits in five at bats.

Gulf Coast State racked up ten hits. HalfacreMoffattWisely, and Kelley all had multiple hits for Gulf Coast State. Halfacre went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Gulf Coast State in hits.

The teams are back in action on Saturday in Marianna at 1:00 p.m. CST. Chipola will have a sophomore ceremony before the game begins.
