Carrion's Walk-Off Gives Indians Victory Over Coastal Alabama

It came down to the wire tonight, with Chipola College Indians Varsity taking victory on a dramatic walk-off single in the late innings that sealed their victory over Coastal Alabama CC. The game was tied at four with Chipola College Indians Varsity batting in the bottom of the ninth when Julio Carrion singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Coastal Alabama CC scored four runs in the fourth inning, but Chipola College Indians Varsitystill managed to pull out the victory. The offensive firepower by Coastal Alabama CC was led by PowellWilliams, and Crain, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Chipola College Indians Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning, when Jordan Anderson drew a walk, scoring one run.

Chipola College Indians Varsity evened things up at four in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ivan Johnson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Michael Cullen took the win for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out two and walking one. Robert Bennett and Andrew Bakerentered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Chipola College Indians Varsity had 12 hits in the game. Cameron GrayJoshua RiveraAlex Arauz, and Carrion each managed multiple hits for Chipola College Indians VarsityGray went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Chipola College Indians Varsity in hits. Chipola College Indians Varsity was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Arauz made the most plays with ten.

Coastal Alabama CC collected 11 hits on the day. Williams and Singleton all managed multiple hits for Coastal Alabama CC. Williams led Coastal Alabama CC with three hits in four at bats. Coastal Alabama CC didn't commit a single error in the field. Rowell had the most chances in the field with four.

The Indians are back at home as they host a classic this weekend with the following schedule:

    • 6PM: Chipola vs. St. John's River
  • Saturday, May 4:
    • Noon: Chipola vs. LSU-Eunice
    • 3PM: St. John's River vs. LSU-Eunice
    • 6PM: Wallace-Dothan vs. St. John's River
  • Sunday, May 5:
    • 11AM: Chipola vs. LSU-Eunice
