The top-ranked Chipola College men's and women's basketball teams open the regular season at home Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 in the newly-renovated Johnson Center.
Both teams begin play as the number one teams in their respective FCSAA State Polls.
The Lady Indians play Central Georgia Tech, Friday, Oct. 31, at 5:30 p.m., and Denmark Tech, Saturday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m The Lady Indians are coming off the most successful season in school history with a 34-2 record, a third place finish in the national tournament and a state championship. The 2013-14 team also ran the table in the conference season finishing (12-0) to take the league title.
Head coach Greg Franklin is starting his third year leading the Lady Indians with his team topping the State Poll and ranked fourth in the national poll.
The Lady Indians will host Santa Fe, Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
The Indians play Atlanta Metro Friday, Oct. 31, at 7:30 p.m., and South Georgia Tech, Saturday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. The top-ranked Indians are coming a great season with a 26-6 record. They won the conference title, the state title and made it to the Elite 8 of the national tournament losing to eventual champion Jones County. Patrick Blake is beginning his third season as head coach with his Indians sitting atop the state poll and ranked seventh in the nation.
The Johnson Center has recently undergone a $1.6 million renovation that includes a new floor, lighting, roof and HVAC system.
