The Chipola men (18-4) will be the #1 seed and face a familiar opponent in round one of the State Tournament. For the fifth time this season, the Indians will take on Gulf Coast Community College (8-11), the eighth seed in the tournament. After dropping the first conference game of the 2021 season to the Commodores, the Indians won the next three meetings between the two teams. The Indians and the Commodores will tip-off on Thursday, April 8, at 6 PM.
The second seeded Lady Indians (15-4) open the State Tournament on Tuesday at 1 PM against the Lady Hawks of Hillsborough Community College. Hillsborough (14-6) will be the #7 seed and advanced to the State Tournament as the runner-up of the Central Conference. The Lady Indians and Lady Hawks faced one another in the 2019-20 season with Chipola defeating Hillsborough, 87-56. The game was played at Raider Arena, the site of this year's State Tournament, as part of the FCSAA Shootout.
Both teams will be looking to advance to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament, April 19-24. The men's tournament will be held in Hutchinson, Kansas and the women's tournament will be held in Lubbock, Texas.
