Indians Hold Off Pensacola

CHIPOLA Indians defeated Pensacola State College 2-1 on Wednesday as three pitchers combined for 9 innings. Jared Howell struck out Alvarez to finish off the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. CHIPOLA Indians pitchers struck out seven, while Pensacola State College pitchers sat down two.

A single by Nemith in the second inning was a positive for Pensacola State College.

Phillip Sanderson earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for CHIPOLA Indians. He went five innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out two and walking one. Christian Collazoand Howell entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.Howell recorded the last six outs to earn the save for CHIPOLA Indians.

Tyson was on the mound for Pensacola State College. He surrendered two runs on eight hits over seven and a third innings, striking out two. Davenport threw two-thirds of an inning in relief.

CHIPOLA Indians socked two home runs on the day, while Pensacola had one late by Richard Sorrenti. Max Guzman had a long ball in the third inning. Howell had a dinger in the seventh inning.

Howell went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead CHIPOLA Indians in hits. CHIPOLA Indians was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Guzman had the most chances in the field with 11.

Pensacola State College didn't commit a single error in the field. Nemith had the most chances in the field with nine.
