Indians Win Fifth Straight Conference Title

With tonight's win over Pensacola State, the Indians have clinched their fifth-straight Panhandle Conference Championship and an automatic berth to the Region VIII/FCSAA tournament.

CHIPOLA Indians stole the lead late and defeated Pensacola State College 10-5 on Monday. The game was tied at three with CHIPOLA Indians batting in the top of the eighth when Julio Carrion homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.

Pensacola State College fired up the offense in the second inning. Foreman doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

CHIPOLA Indians knotted the game up at three in the top of the sixth inning, when Carriondrew a walk, scoring one run.

Andrew Grogan got the start for CHIPOLA Indians. He went five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Floyd toed the rubber for Pensacola State College. He lasted six innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out five. Ginn and Davenport entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.

CHIPOLA Indians tallied three home runs on the day. Austin Bates went deep in the eighth inning. Carrion went for the long ball in the fifth and eighth innings.

CHIPOLA Indians tallied 12 hits on the day. Jordan Hollins, Carrion, Francisco Urbaez, and Bates each racked up multiple hits for CHIPOLA Indians. Bates, Urbaez, Carrion, and Hollinseach collected two hits to lead CHIPOLA Indians.

Pensacola State College tallied 11 hits in the game. McGlamry, Foreman, and Rivers each collected multiple hits for Pensacola State College. McGlamry led Pensacola State College with three hits in four at bats.
