The Chipola Indians turned in an impressive doubleheader performance Friday, defeating East Mississippi CC 7-3 before overpowering Wallace–Dothan 13-3.
In the opener against East Mississippi, Chipola struck first when Tyler Correa launched a solo home run to left in the first inning. The Indians broke the game open in the second, as Hudson Gilman crushed a three-run homer and Colin Guerra added an RBI groundout to give Chipola a commanding early lead.
On the mound, Drew Colon earned the victory after allowing three runs on three hits across four innings while striking out six. Hutson Trobaugh was dominant in relief, tossing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks.
Offensively, Chipola piled up 11 hits. Guerra, Nick Croce, and Correa each recorded two hits, while Gilman led the team with three RBIs. The Indians also played flawless defense, committing no errors in the field.
In the nightcap, Chipola's bats erupted early and often against Wallace–Dothan. After falling behind in the first inning, the Indians responded when Tyler Correa blasted a two-run homer to put Chipola in front.
