Coach Kelly Brookins enters her fifth season leading the Lady Indians in 2025-2026. In three seasons, her teams have an overall record of 129-81. In the 2025 season, the team finished 6th in the nation after winning the South Atlantic District B Championship.

After serving on the staff of former head coach, Belinda Hendrix, for ten seasons, Coach Brookins was named Chipola College's head softball coach on July 20, 2021.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to take over a program that I've been part of as a player and coach," says Brookins. "I'm going to continue to hold student athletes to a high standard both on and off the field and continue to work hard to uphold the winning tradition."

Brookins began her collegiate career at Chipola, playing two years (2005 & 2006) for Coach Hendrix. Brookins was named Second-Team All-Conference in her sophomore season and compiled a career .322 batting average to go along with five homeruns and 40 RBI.

During her time as assistant, Chipola teams won the National Championship in 2015 and 2019 and finished runner-up twice (2016 and 2018). The Lady Indians made their sixth consecutive national tournament appearance in 2021, their ninth appearance overall.

Brookins is a 2004 graduate of Liberty County High School in Bristol, Florida, where she was named to Florida's All-state teams twice. After her playing time at Chipola, Brookins went on to play at Nova Southeastern University where she earned her bachelor's degree in Sports and Recreation Management in 2008. In her two seasons for the Sharks, Brookins hit seven homerun and drove in 40 runs while batting .261.
