Bio

Coach Milton H. Johnson won 801 games in his 38 seasons, including 628 at Chipola College. He retired as the winningest coach in the FCSAA, a record that has since been broken but he remains the winningest coach in the Panhandle Conference.

In 1990, he was one of five coaches inducted into the inaugural class of the Florida Community College Basketball (now FCSAA) Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993.

On February 12, 1994, the Health Center was renamed the Milton H. Johnson Health Center in honor of Coach Johnson. The renaming—a surprise for Coach Johnson—took place during a ceremony prior to Chipola’s 46th annual Homecoming Game. The decision to rename the building was made at a special meeting of the Chipola District Board of Trustees on February 8, 1994.
